This is a document that my wife and I wrote.  It is a collection of letters that were written around the time of our friends’ wedding.

We wanted to send them a tiny bit of wedding advice fit for folks their ages and it turned into 50 pages or so.

The document title “Letters to Friends, Marriage Advice for Teens (and for the rest of us)” really says it all.

The advice is unapologetically rooted in Christian values and has a uniquely rural tone.  We hope you like it.

Adults only please…

Downloaded and saved this once I realized I need to give it more attention than I can at the moment.

Yeah, it’s a bit long which is why we published it as a document rather than a blog post. Let us know what you think!

Happiness and Love seem to shine from the two of you whether you are writing, talking, or just being together. You have brought much joy into my life just by being who you are and I love you always. There is much good advice and love sent to Sam and Jacob for their life ahead and I pray that they will have a happy marriage and full life together like you have. Thank you for bringing who you are to this blog so it may bless others.

We just do the best we can and we had great examples and role models. I’m not sure that most would agree that my blog is a blessing but I appreciate the thought. 😉

What a wonderful series of advice! You and your wife have truly found the fountain of youth in your love for each other. I look at the wisdom and maturity that you have achieved in a relatively short marriage (although it is an eternity for this day and age) and I am in awe. I believe that your niece and nephew-in-law are truly blessed to have such amazing people watching over them. I will plagarize this advice often as my children grow and I will use it in my own marriage. While I may have you beat in anniversaries, you have me beat hands down in the ability to communicate what is important. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks for the kind comment. Feel free to reuse anything that you like.

What we found in writing these and hearing feedback from others is that our “tricks” are just different from others who are in long relationships. You can’t survive this long without having your own little relief valves.

The trick is figuring out what those little things are and duplicating them. Once we launched into this we found ourselves in the place that most others would… having to think “uhh what do we write about today???”. In digging deep to find things to write about we discovered (and were surprised by) a lot of things that we don’t even realize we’re doing on a day to day basis to stay happy.

I am curious to find out what blog platform you happen
to be utilizing? I’m experiencing some small security issues with my latest blog and I’d like to find something more safeguarded.
    Do you have any suggestions?

    Pam
