Yup, that’s right. As free and legal citizens of the United States of America Mrs. Jinksto and I adopted a new family member today.
We got exactly what we I wanted! After a few snapshots at the nursery and a TON of paperwork ensuring that I am not a Felon, a nutcase, a wife beater or an illegal alien we were able to load up in the car and come home.
I took these pictures at the nursery. They’re not that great but you know how the lighting can be in those places:
After a 20 mile ride home, the first thing to do was give her a good bath and get down to the first feeding.
After that we went out in the yard to play. It was 35 degrees F and raining so we only stayed until she got hungry again. I didn’t have a target so used a 4inch skeet and hit it 5 out of 8 times (there’s not much left of a clay pigeon after you shoot it 5 times with a .357 anyway) at 7 yards. Here’s a picture after the bath and first feeding.
It’s a SigArms P229 in .357sig.
Anybody know what color cigars you buy for one of these?
How proud you must be! I’m glad you adopted… there are dozens more neglected babies out there, bigger and smaller, some of them looking quite different from this one, that need good homes. Are you considering more adoptions in the future?
My experience is that Sigs are a little pricey, but if you want quality they are top O’ the line. Nice lookin’ piece… I have a distant cousin named Colt, nicknamed “Combat Commander”, with a nice Nickel Satin finish in .45 ACP.
CC has been a part of our family for almost 40 years and has never let us down. (He has a terrible bark though.)
Cigars come in colors?
Oh… I know the bubble gum ones come in pink. I don’t think pink would work in this case.
They’re very pricey but I’ve wanted one for a very very long time so splurging just this once shouldn’t break me… much. From what I’ve seen of it they’re worth the price. The action is as smooth as silk and even with the short barrel it stays on target when firing.
As for more adoptions… certainly. In fact we’ll probably be picking up another very soon. While I was at the store today I signed Mrs. Jinksto and I up for a CCW course later this month. When she passes that I’m sure it won’t be long before I find her a suitable companion.
I’ve never had the chance to fire a Combat Commander but have handled a few. Fantastic weapon in my opinion. Not to mention that your .45ACP is a better caliber for dire times.
The .357sig is about $12 more per box and much harder to find. Still, it’s not a shtf gun for me. It’s self defense and sexy. That said, Sig makes a conversion barrel so that I can change it to either 40S&W or 9MM. The 40 conversion is just a simple barrel swap… it even uses the same factory clip. I’ll probably go with the 9mm though just because it’s a NATO round and easier to find.
Nice piece, but I think I’ll stick with my Colt National Match (pre Gold Cup) that I adopted more than 20 years ago — obviously I opted to adopt an older child — they get so lonely. Baby has one older brother and 3 younger sisters. I am told that I may be able to adopt another in the near future.
Wow. I’d love to see that National Match. A 1911 is on the books for sometime in the future but there’s no way that I could afford something like that.
A friend of mine (with a serious drinking problem) bought this one at a gun show — the dealer’s son (a known idiot) thought it needed a new barrel (it didn’t — it needed a Lewis Lead Remover) and sold it to friend for $300.00 — he cleaned it up and tried it out — really nice. A week later, I bought lots of beer and invited several folks over after a hot day at the range — 5 hours later the Colt was mine for $275.00. He still hasn’t forgiven me. LOL
hah hah hah, I wouldn’t forgive you either. That’s fantastic.
